This Privacy Policy applies to www.healthstarcom.com, HealthstarSE.com and HealthstarFG.com in addition to any mobile applications, our service platform, and other products or services specifically referencing this Privacy Policy (collectively, “Website”)  owned and operated by HealthStar Communications (“HealthSTAR”) and our affiliated companies. This Privacy Policy describes how HealthSTAR collects and uses the personal information you provide through this Website. It also describes the choices available to you regarding the use of, your access to, and how to update and correct your personal information. In addition, please review our Terms of Use, which governs your use of this Website and any content you submit to this Website.

Compliance with Local Laws

This Privacy Policy is meant to guide HealthSTAR with respect to personal information collected from you, or about you, at this Website.  While this Privacy Policy applies to personal information generally, the local laws, rules and regulations of jurisdictions that are applicable to HealthSTAR (“Local Laws”) may require standards which are stricter than this Privacy Policy and, in such event, HealthSTAR will comply with applicable Local Laws. Specific privacy policies may be adopted to address the specific privacy requirements of particular jurisdictions.

Cross-Border Transfers

Your personal information may be stored and processed in any country where we have facilities or service providers, and by using the Website or by providing consent to us (where required by law), you agree to the transfer of information to countries outside of your country of residence, including transfer to the United States, which may provide for different data protection rules than in your country.

We collect personal information from you, including, but not limited to, name, occupation or job title, employer or place of business, business or home address, business, home or mobile phone number, business or personal email address, and any other personal information you may provide to us.

The use of personal information collected through our service platform shall be limited to the purpose of providing the service for which a Client (as defined below) has engaged HealthSTAR.

We collect the following kinds of personal information from or on behalf of the Clients:

Speaker Profile: Password, Username, Affiliation, Title, Personal Contact Information such as address and phone numbers and we may ask for specialty information like SLN (Subscriber Line Number), NPI (National Provider Identifier Standard), etc.

We also collect the following information from our Clients or our Clients’ end users:

  • Travel Information
  • Uploaded Documents
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Biographical Information
  • Pictures
  • Expense Submissions

We use this information for:

  • Profile management;
  • Activity acceptance/decline (speaker confirmation) and activity management;
  • invitations to speakers;
  • travel management;
  • Content access, posting and management (content library);
  • Expense management and payment detail; and
  • Training management.

We collect this personal information on behalf of our Clients.  If you are a speaker (HealthSTAR’s Client’s end user) of one of our Clients and would no longer like to be contacted by another one of our Clients that use our service, please contact the Client that you interact with directly or you may contact us directly (see the Your Right to Request Deletion section and User Access and Choice section below).  If you are a Client and would like to update your account please contact us at request@healthstarcom.com.

HealthSTAR may not have a direct relationship with certain individuals whose personal information it processes.  An individual speaker who seeks access, or who seeks to correct, amend, or delete inaccurate data should direct their query to HealthSTAR’s Client (the data controller) responsible for your personal information to ensure continuity of your business relationship; however, you may also contact us directly (see the Your Right to Request Deletion section and User Access and Choice section below).  If requested to remove data, we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

HealthSTAR will retain personal data we process on behalf of our Clients and our Clients’ end users for as long as needed to provide services to our Client. HealthSTAR will also retain this personal information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Your Right to Request Deletion

You have a right to request the deletion of your personal information from our records.  If you would like to request deletion of your personal information, please contact us (see the “Contact Us” section below).

Sources From Which We Collect Personal Information

HealthSTAR collects information from various interfaces on the Websites.  HealthSTAR may also be provided personal information for processing by Clients.

Purposes for Collecting Your Personal Information

Information we collect is used for: (i) registering you for a seminar or event; (ii) responding to your inquiries and/or complaints; (iii) carrying out our obligations to HealthSTAR’s clients that you associate with for business purposes (each, a “Client”); (iv) enforcing our rights; (v) providing our services to you and to HealthSTAR’s clients; and (vi) fulfilling any other purpose for which you provide your personal information to us.

We aggregate data on site usage for site enhancements, product development, and market research. This data may contain personal information.  On occasion, we may provide data in aggregate form, with individual user-identifying information removed, to third parties. Any outside firm that receives aggregate data from HealthSTAR must agree not to attempt to re-identify individuals from the aggregate data.

Categories of Third Parties With Whom We Share Personal Information

California Residents.  We will not disclose or share your personal information with third parties for the purposes of third-party marketing to you without your prior consent.  We do not sell your personal information.

We will share your personal information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this Privacy Policy below.

 We may provide your personal information to companies that provide services to help us with our business activities. These companies are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us, and must agree to comply with this Privacy Policy prior to receiving any personal information. Examples of service providers include, but are not limited to, those companies that provide information technology support and services.

 We may also disclose your personal information as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, bankruptcy proceedings, or similar legal process when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

We may disclose your personal information to a prospective or actual successor company if HealthSTAR is involved in a merger, acquisition, divestiture, sale of all or a portion of its assets or similar transaction, and you will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our website, of any change in ownership, uses of personal information, and choices you may have regarding your personal information during a change in control of HealthSTAR.

We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you or a Client (that is associated with you in our records) our services.  We will retain and use your personal information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Tracking Technologies

As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically through this Website and store it in log files. We do not link this automatically collected information to other information we collect about you. HealthSTAR and its wholly-owned subsidiaries, use technologies such as cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts, to analyze trends, administer this Website, track users’ movements around this Website, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.
